The Drug Prescriptions:

Antihistamines: these are used to reduce sneezing, itching and runny nose.  They can cause drowsiness, dizziness, headaches, dry eyes, and nervousness in children.  Major cautions are pounding heartbeat, seizures, and breathing difficulties.  Drug interactions happen with antacids, grapefruit, apple, and orange juice

Decongestants: these reduce nasal and sinus stuffiness by constricting blood vessels.  They can cause insomnia, headaches, nausea, and loss of appetite.  Major problems are anxiety, heart palpitations, increased blood pressure, hallucinations, seizures, and many others.  Adverse decongestant interactions happen with caffeine.  They cause folic acid depletion.

Leukotriene Modifiers: these reduce allergy symptoms by safer than steroids do by blocking the inflammatory response. Potential side effects are similar to decongestants and major symptoms are edema, darkening urine, seizure, and severe stomach pains.

Nasal Anticholinergics: these treat runny nose and improve breathing by blocking the effect of the cholinergic nerves causing the muscles to relax and open up.  Potential side effects are nausea, nosebleeds, respiratory tract infection, headache, and dry mouth.

Others similar drugs are nasal corticosteroids, nasal decongestants, and nasal maste cell stabilizers.  These have similar uses and side effects.
